This is a fine thermos, but I would buy Thermos Foogo because the gasket is much better. The gasket for the Funtainer is made of a material more like plastic, but the Foogo gasket is made of something rubbery and thinker and seems to seal better. Someone did a comparison between the Funtainer and Foogo, and they found that the Foogo retains heat longer than the Funtainer (The review is available on YouTube; search under "Thermos Funtainer vs Foogo Food Jar Video"). When not on sale, the Foogo is slightly more expensive but only by a couple of dollars.

My husband had been carrying a different brand of food jar that was bigger than this one and at the time it was the smallest I could find. It was too big for one serving and he had to dig deep to get the last of the food.This Thermos Funtainer is much better at 10 ounces. It holds as much food as he eats at lunch and it's easy to eat out of. Not only is it a comfortable spoon-reach to the bottom, there's no neck on it because of the way the lid is designed, so the walls go straight down.The lid being one piece is nice too because there's only 1 thing to set aside in order to dig in and eat and 1 thing to put back on when you're done. That's handy when you're eating in a vehicle as he is.

I bought this thermos and one other ok another color for my sons to take hot lunch since they were sick of lunchables. These are fabulous! I’m the morning I boil water and when it’s boiling I will the thermos and close the lid. By the time I finished cooking pasta noodles or heating a hotdog, I dump out the hot water and put in the hot food. My sons said it’s still hot when they eat and they love it! It’s definitely opened up more possibilities for lunch time! (For reference I put the heated water in around 6am and they eat lunch 11/1130)They aren’t too big to fit in their lunch boxes and so far no leaks! And super easy to clean!

I bought this for my 10 yr old daughter's lunch. I first bought the 10 oz but I quickly realized it would not hold enough food. If you have an older child, you will want this size.As a mom I hate giving my kids lunch meat sandwiches everyday for school lunch and they don't like the ones provided from school. This thermos has finally given me the ability to pack warm home cooked food. I warm up food in the morning and put it straight in the thermos and it is still warm at lunch time. I've put cheese sticks, tater tots, beans and rice, ravioli, and even warm dinner rolls. This thermos has opened up so many more options for my kids and we are all happy I bought them.

We have several of these. These are great for sending hot lunch to school! Fill the thermos with hot water while you're cooking or heating up the food, that way the container is already hot before you put the hot food in. We only use this for school lunches, and the kids have reported that after 3-4 hours, the food is still really warm. Only complaint is that ring in the lid is hard to clean. It's such a tight space that is hard to dry completely and I have to use a toothpick and paper towel to get any gunk stuck in there.

My boys prefer soup for lunch at school and this thermos is perfect. I heat the soup slightly warmer than if I wanted to eat it right then (extra 30 seconds) and then it's the perfect temperature 4 hours later at lunchtime. No leaks and so far easy to clean with no mold etc.

Best thermos so far. I bought two of these for my sons school lunches. In the morning around 7:20am I'll boil some water and then pour the boiled water into the thermos and screw the cap on. I'll let it sit while I warm up their food (about 10mins) once the food is hot I pour of the water and pour the food in. At lunch time around 12:35-1pm their food is still hot. Sometimes too hot. If I make them soup, I let the boiled water only sit for 5 minutes so that way the inside is not too hot and it let's the soup cool down a little bit. To give you an idea on sizing, a whole cup of noddle can almost fit in this thermo.They are great for chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, taco meat, pastas and soups.So far the seals are tight enough to prevent leaks and the caps are easy enough for my sons (8-10) to open them.They wash very easily and since they are stainless steel inside there are never any food stains left on them. I definitely recommend them for everyone to use for warm food options.

Yes, there are a ton of thermoses to choose from, and because I’m not very picky, I went with the cheapest. It just so happened that the cheapest one at the time I purchased it was Batman, at $13.94. Unlike the majority of people who seem to get this product, I did not get it for my child to take to lunch, but rather for the intention of bringing it on camping trips to keep coffee or soup warm for a few hours. I also tried it out a few times in the cold, just to test out its ability for both temperatures. I will say, however, that I did not test it out at its maximum capacity because I didn’t need to.PROS:-Can keep food/drinks cold or hot for an extended period of time.-Comes in many different themes.-Works well on a camping trip. It kept my soup warm for several hours, and also kept my coffee warm the next day for about 5 hours. (Yes it had cooled down a little, but it was still warm after 5 hours.)-Lightweight, stainless steel construction.-The seal works perfectly and nothing leaked out, even when it got jostled and dropped.CONS:-This very clearly made for only storage. I wanted to use it a few times to drink out of directly and while this was possible, sometimes the liquid dripped down or got caught in the grooves. In other words, there’s no drinking spout, and you’ll probably drip on yourself if you try to drink from it.-It’s a very odd size, at 10 oz. I’ll have to check if that’s 10 liquid ounces or 10 solid ounces, because I wasn’t able to get a full cup of coffee when I tried to put it in there.

We bought this for our five year old to keep his lunch warm while at summer camp. I boil water and let it sit in the thermos for ten minutes. I heat the food up hotter then normal before I place it in the thermos. He normally eats his lunch four to five hours after I have made it. Most days he comes home and tells me it is still warm. There have been a few times he has come home and told me his lunch was cold. We mostly use it for pizza rolls and pastas. I did try mini corn dogs and those become mushy. We have not tried keeping anything cold in it yet.

This year with Covid the schools are not allowing the kids to use the microwave. This thermos has been great at keeping their lunches warm. It has never leaked. Clean up is easy, I just put it in the dishwasher.

Changed from 2 to star to 3. The seal ring fell out, found and put back in, stopped leaking.I don't like the design of the sealant, the ring will fail way before the rest of the cup.============== old review ==========My 8 year old boy used this for one year, and now it leaks. He doesn't abuse it, simply from home, backpack, school and back. I included a picture to show it looks almost new, not banged up. Even if manufacturer says they would replace, who has the time to do all of that? Just making the time to write this is a stretch. Before it leaked, 5 stars.

We’ve had things like this by thermos (Batman) before. They lasted about 6 months before he leaking so this time I bought 3 replacement gaskets.But we only use this once in a great while.AMAZINGLY, THOUGH. I prepped it with HOT water for about twenty minutes (let water sit inside to heat the air), with the lid on loosely and not touching the water.Meanwhile, I made some organic Mac and cheese for the little tyke. When it was ready, I poured out the boiling water and hand dried it, put in the Mac and cheese and put it next to other items in his lunch box at 7:30am.We went on a field trip and ate at about 11:30am. When we opened it, it was still HOT to the touch.However, for a little guy, it can be hard to open, so make sure they have someone to help, if needed.

I bought this to keep my soup or stew or chili hot for lunch. Even though I pre-heated the stainless with boiling water before filling it with my meal, the food was only hot for about 1.5 hours. Not long enough for lunch. Then, since it's stainless, I can't heat my food in it because the microwave can't handle that. This was not good for what I bought it for. We use it to keep ants out of our sugar at the house now, just because I can't stand to waste.

I use these for my 4, 6, 8, & 11 year olds. The older kids like having soups, stews and pastas. The younger kids can open it just fine without spilling. They love having hot coco in thier lunches too. If you're trying to feed a teen or adult, it is a bit small. The portion size is about the size of a baseball, so when I take one for lunch, I also bring a salad or other supplement. I found one in the car around 8pm one night, my son came home sick from school that day & didnt eat, and the soup was still hot after 13+ hours around 70 degree temps all day. My kids have said if I prep the food too hot they have to open it and let it cool for a minute at lunch.

We have purchased quite a few of these over the years and they have been perfect for our needs. We normally use them for sending Mac and Cheese into school, so I can't comment on the product for holding more liquid foods but it still works great. I believe the food stays warm, not hot. One thing to be sure is that when you clean the lid, you take the plastic ring off to clean each time. That will mold if you don't. I'd definitely recommend this to others.

We have been using Funtainers for over a year, and decided to add two more to our collection when I saw this great design. It is holding up well in the dishwasher and my sons love them. Instead of boring sandwiches, we pour hot water into the thermos to warm them up, then heat up leftovers and put them in. The food is still piping hot at lunchtime, but if you don't heat up the thermos, the food will cool and grow bacteria.This will not fit in a standard child's size lunchbox, so make sure you order check the dimensions and buy the appropriate size lunchbox.These don't leak, even when tipped on their sides, but I am a little annoyed that I now have three different types of Funtainers and the tops are not interchangeable. It's minor, but it would be nice to know I could grab any lid when in a rush, instead of needing the match.Update: The decal is wearing off of the thermos. While it is still functional, it's definitely losing its cool factor.

Really good. My daughter was absolutely bored of cold lunches to the point she wasn't eating them anymore, found this and decided to give it a try. I'm not a fan of school hot lunches. I rather have her eating home made food but there is not many possibilities when all you can do is cold. Currently I'm using this thermo almost every day. Keeps food warm for a good 6 hours, works perfect with pasta, soup, meatballs and even pizza. I pour some really hot water and let it sit there for a couple of minutes then throw it away and put the food in, works like a charm.

We love these for school lunches! This is a small sort of container but is perfect for mac and cheese, chili, and other foods for my kids to take to lunch. The method that works perfectly for the food to be perfect temp at lunch. I boil water, put the water in the container, close it up for 10 minutes. In the meantime, I get the food going into it VERY hot. Then pour out water and put in food. My kids report it is PERFECT temp at lunchtime. LOVE these!

My son loves this for his lunch. If I preheat the thermos (put boiling water in it in the morning and let it sit) and then warm the food and put it in the thermos before we leave, then my son's lunch is still warm by lunch time around 11. Otherwise it works great for his Vienna sausages for lunchtime.

Love!!!! My sons preschool will no longer heat food now that he is in the 3 year old room. I panicked upon hearing this. THIS SAVED ME!!!! I make grilled cheese n cut it into 1/4s, mac n cheese n hot dogs, meatloaf and noodles, chicken nuggets and corn, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken soup. ITS AMAZING! My 10 year old takes soup, chili, chicken taquitos i cut in half. Phenomenal and different! I do although wish it was divided, the search continues!

I'm not impressed. I bought two of these because everyone raved about them. I made sure to boil water and fill it to warm the inside before putting hot food in every time. My son will not take hot food to school anymore because he says it is always cold by lunch. In the end, I would not buy this product again.

I waited to write a review until we had used this for one semester. It goes to school with my child almost daily and it works great. We haven't had problems with food stuck in the lid or with smells. I just wash it when my child gets home from school, most of the time at least. It has had leftovers in it overnight once or twice and again, no problems with smells. My child says his food is warm at lunch which is 4 hours after I have packed the lunch. If it is soup then it stays hot, very hot, so be careful with young children. The size works great for us but my child is only 5. Older children or adults might need a larger size.

This is the worst item I have seen, it's misleading yo how it was advertised. Only one cherry ?can fix in side of this. The way how it was advertised , lead me to believe it was much bigger than it is. It's even smaller than a tea ?. I felt so hurt and ashamed when it arrived in the Caribbean and it was unboxed. My family asked me what is that for? I could not respond.

That's all I wanted - to keep the kids' food warm. It did not do this. Even if I made the food scalding hot, less than 3 hours later, it was cold. Not even room temperature but COLD. Also, we live in Southern California, so ambient temperature is not a factor. Very disappointing and sad face for the kids eating cold hot food.

I originally got this to keep boiling water in so I could warm up my baby's milk when we were traveling. It does great serving that purpose (for a single use), but the diameter was too small for my bottles (Philips Avent 4oz), so I just put the entire milk storage bag into the hot thermos water to warm it up. It worked great! I have also used it for soup and I'm pleased with the purchase overall.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that experienced food not staying warm despite following directions (boil water first, pour in thermos, let sit for 5-10min, wipe dry, then add warmed food.) I put chicken nuggets in it for my son’s lunch and he reported that the nuggets were not warm by the time he ate them. :/ I wonder if it works better with certain foods. Anyhow willing to give it another go esp since my kids love spaghetti and Mac n cheese and I can always use this thermos for that type of leftovers to put in their lunch for the next school day.

This is the perfect size and build container for chia pudding. That is, two tablespoons of chia seeds and liquid medium (I use flax milk). For completeness, I eat this cold. I combine ingredients in the container and keep it in the fridge the night before toting to work. Just grab it and go out the door. Four hours later, I enjoy all of my still-cold chia pudding that has not at all leaked from this trusty little container. There’s still room in it for whatever you might add to it, like cacao nibs or coconut flakes. Cheerfully recommended.

Great for winter hiking if you want to bring hot soup but want to be sure you don't burn your tongue. Put the soup in here and it will be nice and cool by lunchtime. Meanwhile the outside of the thermos warms up, providing a gentle hand warmer. And pre-heating the thermos with very hot water before the soup helps you waste a little extra time getting your lunch together. All in all, a fine product looking for a function. Can't wait to try it out in the summer - see if it keeps cool foods hot.

We bought it for me to take cooked oatmeal to work. This little thermos delivers and the description was accurate. There is not much I can ask from a thermos. Although I have been only using it for one day, so far - so good.
