I thought this would be a quality block. It had two flaws -- an imperfection in the cutting surface and an overcut edge on one side of the block. It is functional but not nice to look at. If you want to buy one of this company's blocks, I recommend going to a store where you can inspect it. After cutting some french bread there were deep gauges that I had to power sand to remove. This never happened with my previous maple blocks. Just seems like low quality overall. I recommend looking elsewhere.

Gorgeous and just the Right SizeI don't get some bad reviews as mine arrived shiny and even shrink wrapped in thick plastic.Polish what? It was smooth and felt like it was just oiledI get how to care for it as I bought the mystery oil and wax plus the 20 buck applicator as it will pay for itself as paper towels waste to much oil.And I use latex gloves when I use the mystery oil no mess on my hands.Anyhow, great product 0 complaints. I also ordered another Boos cutting board flat with drip edge and reversible for cutting meat or poultry only2 boards as to keep separate as to not contaminateNice to use Boos blocks to protect very expensive knifes

This is the second one of these I've bought. The first lasted a few years, but, without any maintenance, the wood started to split. I'll be taking much better care of this one.I'm 6'2" and the extra height that the legs provide along with the thickness of the board makes it that much more comfortable for me to work with. I use this board on a daily basis for all my fruits and vegetables. (I have a much bigger board for meats). It's a workhorse.

I purchased this small cutting board for display purposes in my kitchen. It's very well made and is a wonderful stand for my basket of cookbooks. That said, I am sure it works perfectly as a cutting board, as I have many of their products and they are always a high quality item.A bit pricey, but worth every penny! I would recommend highly!

After 8 months of light use, the board has started cracking even though I have oiled it every week after use. I do not recommend this product. There are many cracks in between glued pieces. This has been stored away from water and heat. It was taken care of meticulously. I feel ripped off since I had purchased this thinking that this would be a long term addition to my kitchen.

12" square perfect for a small kitchen counter top. It's a decent weight board on feet. I store knives under it. I bought some silicone non-skid strips sold here on Amazon to keep it from shifting on the countertop.Update: wood is beginning to show minute gap separation after a year. Was oiled and never in water. Could possibly be lumber stock from trees effected by global warming. I never had wood separate on my older cutting boards.I apply a liberal amount of good wood oil, spread it evenly on wood, and a piece of waxed paper cut to size over the top and leave soak over night or two. Works great. Makes for a water-resistant coating for a week or more depending on ones' use.Liked it enough to buy a 2nd one. Oddly, the new one is a 1/4" smaller (11.75" x 11.75")

I had been wanting a John Boos block so devided to go for it and Im so glad I did!! I love love love it. It’s beautiful and I oiled it as soon as it got delivered to me with their oil! Looks great on my countertop. I will surely be putting it to use!

I have a couple of Boos boards, but after reading a couple of reviews, I was a little nervous buying this. However, it came and was perfect. The feet were on properly, no splits or cracks. I immediately treated it with the Boos cream and let it sit overnight. I haven't had it long so I can't yet vouch for longevity but if it's anything like my other Boos, with proper care, it should last a long time.
